Type III PAS is defined as autoimmune thyroiditis occurs with another organ-specific autoimmune disease. Further PAS IIIA is subclassified as autoimmune thyroiditis with immune-mediated diabetes mellitus. Circulating organ-specific autoantibodies can be detected in these patients.
